Tips for a Smooth Handover

Write the obvious stuff down

Your sitter does not know your home. Include things like where the food is kept, how much your pet usually eats, and whether they are allowed on the couch. What seems obvious to you may be a surprise to someone else.

Test the medication routine

If your pet needs pills, show the sitter how you give them before you leave. A pill pocket, a bit of cheese, or a specific hand motion can make the difference between a stressed pet and an easy routine.

Leave a backup plan

Include a backup contact who knows your pet. If the sitter gets sick or has car trouble, someone else should be able to step in. Also write down the address of the nearest emergency vet clinic.

Update before each trip

Medications change. Feeding amounts change as pets grow. Even small behavior shifts matter. Open your saved profile before each trip and make sure everything still matches.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not assume the sitter knows your pet's signals. Write down what a stressed bark sounds like versus a playful one. Note if your cat hides when scared or if your dog guards his food. These details prevent misunderstandings.

Print two copies

Give one copy to your sitter and keep one for yourself. If you have a backup sitter, give them a copy too. A printed sheet on the fridge is easier to find than a text message from last week.

Questions Pet Owners Ask

Can I save more than one pet?

Yes. Use the pet selector at the top of the builder to add a new profile. Each pet gets its own saved details and handover sheet. Switch between them anytime.

How do I share the sheet with my sitter?

Click "Copy Link" to generate a URL that opens a read-only version of the handover sheet. Paste it into a text or email. Your sitter does not need to fill anything in.

What if my pet has no medications?

Leave the medication section blank. It will not appear on the printed sheet. The same applies to any section you skip.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. The builder works on phones and tablets. The form stacks into a single column on small screens. You can fill it in on the go and print from a computer later.

Is my data safe?

All data stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. If you clear your browser storage, saved profiles are lost, so keep a printed copy as backup.
